A self-driven car is without a doubt the car of the future, although the vehicle seems to still meet some issues and challenges on the road.
Google aims to offer customers a safe, comfortable car that will be able to make driving a real pleasure for anyone. To make sure that everything is working perfectly, Google has been conducting tests for months. These tests comprise of the car driving on the roads in United States.
Unfortunately for Google, keeping the car on the road has not been something free of accidents, although the company claimed that it wasn't the one to blame for any of these incidents.
Google's self-driving car has now gotten involved in an accident resulting in injuries, although once again the smart vehicle was not the one responsible for causing the accident. Moreover, the injuries suffered were minor.
Once again, Google said that human mistake lead to the crash. According to some Google statements, another car had hit the vehicle in the back.
"The three Google employees on board complained of minor whiplash, were checked out at a hospital and cleared to go back to work following the July 1 collision," Google said in a statement according to the AP.
"The driver of the other car also complained of neck and back pain," the same statement added.
Of course, other similar cases have been registered until now. "Other drivers have hit us 14 times since the start of our project in 2009 (including 11 rear-enders), and not once has the self-driving car been the cause of the collision," a statement said.
"Instead, the clear theme is human error and inattention. We'll take all this as a signal that we're starting to compare favorably with human drivers," it added.
The idea of a car that drives itself is without a doubt a unique idea, but maybe these accidents are not making a good image for the vehicle. In fact, many people have risen concerns on the existence of cars without drivers on the streets.
Some claim that technology could make errors and this could potentially result in very serious injuries, sometimes even in deaths.
Google, on the other hand, has claimed that despite the accidents, none resulted in police reports and none resulted in severe injuries.
So, according to the famous company this just shows that the frequency of accidents on the road is quite severe and the good thing that this car brings is that even in the event of such an undesired situation, the consequences are minimal.
However, Google will continue its tests in the coming months, so the famous company will try to find out how to make the device even safer. Reps for Google have already claimed that teaching the self-driving car how to avoid serious accidents is actually an important priority.
