Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Specifications and Verdict

Probably an year ago, Samsung pleased us with an upgraded  version of the their successful tablet, the Galaxy Tab. The lighter and more powerful  Galaxy Tab 2 did bring some noticeable changes like doubling the RAM and the processor cores. Galaxy Tab 2 was worthy to be the successor of the Galaxy Tab. Samsung has come a long way since the release of Galaxy Tab in 2010. The latest product of the Samsung Galaxy Tab series has come out in July.Yes, the much awaited Galaxy Tab 3 is already out. But is there any serious competition for other giant tablet producing companies like Apple.Inc or  Asus? But before that we have to look at what changed in this tab from its predecessor. Ok, so what are the new features in Tab 3 that we didn't see in Tab 2? Actually, nothing much. So where do we go from here? How do we judge a tablet refresh that's merely pretending at being an update? Lets take a fresh look at the hardware and find out if it is really worth the extra bucks. I’m sure  the other Samsung fanatics were equally disappointed with the underwhelming specification of  Tab3.

Processor, Memory and OS:-
This was one of the few aspects in which the Tab 3 overpowered its predecessor by a slight margin. The Galaxy Tab 3 featured a PXA986 1.2 GHz dual core processor that seemed fast enough to smoothly run jellybean(4.1) on it. The amount of memory remained unchanged, with Galaxy  Tab 3 still having 1GB of RAM. The device came out with Jelly bean version 4.1 . there are two variants for the device, differing in the internal storage memory-8GB and 16GB versions. This won't matter much as this also supports external SD cards.

Samsung’s new tablet is beautifully built, as expected of Samsung. The plastic body lasts really long if taken care of. With new technologies came a lighter version of the Table. Weighing at 306 grams, it is a few grams lighter and smaller than Tab2. While this might be a budget device, the Galaxy Tab 3 is slick, shiny, and downright beautiful. Moreover it is more comfortable to hold in our hands.

Much didnt change in the transformation from Tab 2. Tab 3 sill has a 7 inch screen with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels.Yes, i know, the pixel density of 170 ppi is pretty low considering other phones and tablets in the market. But you shouldn’t complain ,Tab 3 is budget tablet. If you are looking forward to playing HD games on your tablet, then obviously this is not for you guys!

Like Tab 2, this device also features a 3.15 mp rear facing camera and an upgraded front facing 1.3 mp camera that replaced  the VGA camera of tab 2.

Battery and Features:-
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 comes with a non removable  4000 mAh lithium ion battery which provides you with a talktime of up to 40 hrs on 2G and 20 hrs on 3G. Other features include GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, dual band, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth and USB port. These features are again similar for both these devices.

This budget device is released at a rate of 200$ for the US version and at 17450 ₹ in India.

Pros and Cons of Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0

> Low price tablet from Samsung.
>Awesome looks.

>Poor Resolution
>Not much changes from Tab 2
>Not much of a performance for its price.
>Outdated Specifications

Wrapping up -the Verdict:-

Clearly Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 does not come with any new eye catching feature. Most of the hardware specifications are same in Tab2 and Tab 3 devices and only visible update is the increase in clock frequency from 1GHz to 1.2 GHz (which is available even in many Budget tablets) and improved front camera of 1.3 MP. There are many other Tablets of the same price offering better performance than this one. Asus’s 2nd gen Nexus 7 is one of the major contenders at the same price. Nexus 7 offers unequalled performance for a tablet of that range.

Unless you are Samsung fanatic and you are looking for a budget this is a good tablet. For others, i gotta say, galaxy tab 3 is an utter disappointment and i would suggest investing your 200$ in a Nexus 7 because u do deserve something better!
